Backlinks is for your website and without it your Google ranking would be non-existent. A backlink is an attribution from any other website to yours. It is a live link and usually looks like this: click here if you want to read more about search engine marketing.

Going back to the New York pink widgets the anchor text would be pink widgets New York. This is what gives you search engine juice, meaning the more of these type of links point to you site (with various variations), the higher your site will rank for the search term. This is the true power of SEO.
However, SEO is much more than that. It also incorporates necessary elements on your website. Those must be crafted to connect your readers so they will act on the data they have read.
