Eight Forum Marketing Tips

Forum marketing is a great free marketing strategy and it can be a very effective way to generate leads for your network marketing business. However, there are several things to keep in mind.

Any time you use a free marketing method, it’s important to remember you are investing your time rather than your money, so these following suggestions will help you spend that time wisely!

8 Do’s And Don’ts Of Forum Marketing:

1. Nobody cares about your business. The last thing you want to do is join a forum and then begin pitching your opportunity. Instead, join the conversation and share some knowledge when appropriate.

The purpose of joining the forum is to meet other people, to build relationships and share information to help each other out. Over time, as you provide valuable advice and knowledge to the discussions you take part in, people will begin to recognize you as a leader. It’s important to remember, people join people and they are looking for leaders!

2. It is important that any and all links belong in your signature. Regardless if it’s for an affiliate offer or your primary opportunity, links belong in your signature. That’s why it’s there in the first place! The one exception is when you are providing a link to information or a helpful website, not affiliate offers or landing pages though.

Offer value and get involved in the discussions on the forums. Develop into a leader and the community will become interested in you, which is when they will go to your signature to find out more about you.

3. Don’t waste your signature by putting links to generic company websites and capture pages. You’ve taken the time to build good relationships with the community and offered them valuable advice and information. The last thing you want to do is turn them away by sending them to a generic company site or landing page.

Leaders have their own branded websites, so be that leader. Send them where you can build a stronger relationship with them by offering them more value such as a blog, for example. It’s important, however, that you have an opt-in form on your blog so they can join your mailing list while they are there.

Most forums have space to put a couple of links, so one can most certainly be to your own personally branded website/landing page. For example, if you are involved with a generic lead generation system like MyLeadSystemPro, which can help other network marketers build their business…that would be a great place to send them!

4. Don’t be a know-it-all. It’s important to be secure and exhibit leadership, but be considerate of other people and be mindful to not act like you know absolutely everything, because no one likes that!!

5. Don’t be scared to join a forum on a focus other than home business. For example, if you’re really into golf, it’s okay to join a golf forum and use your signature to say something like “Earning money online yet? I can show you how.”

6. Be consistent. It’s important to not go and join ten differnet forums at the same time because it won’t accomplish anything. It’s much more effective to choose 1-3, depending on how much time you have to devote to your marketing. You’re better off being more involved on fewer forums than less involved on more forums.

Once you join, get involved. Don’t just sit back and keep an eye on the conversation! Expect to devote 3-6 days a week, especially in the beginning. It’s important to set aside a certain amount of time to spend on each forum because, if not, time will just slip away!!

7. Be patient. It’s unreasonable to expect that you can join a few forums and then have hundreds of leads the next week. forum marketing can be very effective, but you must be patient. It takes time, but if you stick with it, it can be a great marketing technique. As always, you are either spending time or money. With forum marketing, it’s definitely your time.

8. Make sure to get involved on forums that get a lot of traffic. Use sites such as Alexa.com to help you with determining some active forums to join. Here are three examples of great forums for the network marketing niche:

RichDad
WarriorForum
BetterNetworker

It looks like it’s time to wrap things up! As with any other marketing technique, stick with it and be consistent. It’s not going to happen in a week, but if you stay consistent, forum marketing can be a great way to generate leads for your network marketing business. It can also be a good place to learn some new things, so don’t forget to do that while you’re there!

Four Easy Methods To Generate Free Network Marketing Leads

Every day, as network marketers, we make decisions about which marketing strategies we are going to use in our business. Many of these techniques are essentially free, while many others can cost varying amounts of money.

When deciding whether we are going to use paid or free strategies, it is important to remember that we don’t spend in money, we will typically have to spend in time.

At the end of the day, it is really a matter of perspective.

While you may not have to spend any money out of your bank account on a free strategy, it will cost you your time, so it is important to decide how much your time is worth to you!

I’m not saying that these 4 techniques aren’t worth doing just because they are free. I’m just pointing out that you will have to invest your time if you want to see any significant results.

I truly believe in the following four strategies and know they can be quite effective in generating free network marketing leads, so let’s get to them

Four Strategies You Can Use To Generate Free Network Marketing Leads

1. Article Marketing

Article marketing can be one of the most effective ways to get massive traffic to your website, but it needs to be done correctly. It’s not article marketing if you throw an article up on a single site from time to time.

You need to do some keyword research first, to decide what you should be writing about and what keywords you are going to target. It is also important to syndicate your content, with all of your syndicated content pointing back to your original article.

You will also want to make sure that you are using the appropriate anchor text and that you are sending your traffic somewhere that will convert. It’s all well and good that they read your article, but you want to turn your traffic into leads!

Syndicating your content can be time consuming, but there are many tools out there that can save you a lot of time. Some may be as little as $100 or less, while others may cost more, or even require an ongoing monthly fee.

If you decide that this is going to be one of your “go-to” strategies, I would highly recommend doing some research on a tool to help you automate the process. I know doing this technically doesn’t make this strategy 100% free, but it can save you a lot of time!

Something to keep in mind when you are writing your articles is that the point of the article is to share information and teach others. Writing a bunch of garbage or spammy articles just to write something won’t really produce any long term results for you.

One of the best things about this technique is that, if done correctly, you will continue to get leads for months or even years to come on a particular article. You do have to be patient, though, and stay consistent and diligent because the results won’t come overnight. However, if you do stick with it, they will come.

2. Video Marketing

When I first got started in this industry, video marketing is how I got most of my first sign-ups. It can be very effective because you are right there for your prospects to see – face to face.

Again though, this needs to be done properly. It’s not enough just to throw up a video here and there and say you are doing video marketing. There is keyword research that needs to be done here as well.

I would highly recommend having a YouTube account, as long as you remember to treat YouTube as you would any other social networking site, such as Facebook. Meet other marketers, build relationships, provide value and share good content. Just like before, no spammy videos guys!

There are also some tools that you could use to help you disseminate your videos to multiple video sites, some free, some not. Just like before, do your research to decide what works with your budget and your needs!

3. Forum Marketing

Forum marketing can be a very effective strategy, if done correctly! Although, joining a handful of fourms and then pitching your business is the fastest way to NOT get free network marketing leads.

I’m always amazed by the number of people who actually do this. They join the forum, and put up a spammy post (no value, just spam). Furthermore, they don’t bother to put up a picture or a bio or even a good signature. It’s always seemed so silly to me.

You certainly aren’t going to be that person because you know it will just be a waste of your time.

Instead, decide how many forums you can commit to, maybe 1-3 to start. Take the few minutes to put up a picture and fill out your profile.

Wondering what to do next?

Again, as I mentioned before, don’t pitch your business in your posts. Any and all selling belongs in your signature. Speaking of that, put a link in your signature that offers people more than a generic company website/capture page.

Forums are places where people with similar interests can share information and ideas. It’s a place to ask questions and have questions answered. This is exactly what you should be doing while you are there.

Join in the conversation and get to know other people on the forum. A forum is very much like a community and it is a great place to meet people and build relationships. Lead with value and you won’t go wrong.

I want to touch upon your signature that I mentioned earlier. You have the opportunity to put a link or maybe two in your signature so don’t waste it.

You could send people to a personally branded landing page in one link, and then maybe to your blog or website in the other. Always be mindful to not send them to generic websites as that doesn’t brand you as a leader!

As you become part of the community by offering value and leadership, people will naturally become interested in you and will look to your signature to find out more about you. That is how you will generate leads, so make sure you send them some place that can do that, like your own blog or your own capture page!

A generic lead generation and training system would be a great place to send them as it would be a great place for them to find some good information for their own business. As always, make sure you are sending them to a personally branded landing page!

A few great forums you could join are:

* Rich Dad
* Warrior Forum
* Better Networker

4. Social Media Marketing

Social media marketing can very quickly turn into a time vacuum so be very careful with this one!

The first thing you want to do is join some of the top social media sites, such as Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Make sure you take the time to complete your profile, including a picture, and don’t make it all about business.

Remember that these are social sites, so it’s important to show that you have more than one dimension and you’re not just a network marketer.

Now, go out there and make friends. Join in the conversations and get to know people. Listen to people and find out what they want. Share with your friends, provide them with valuable information, don’t just sell to them.

It’s okay to occasionally promote an affiliate offer or your own offer, but 90% of the time, you should be providing value and demonstrating leadership.

Also, you are going to be provided a place where you can put links for your websites. Yet again, please don’t be sending your new friends to generic company landing pages or websites. (Do I sound like a broken record yet? GOOD. It’s really THAT important!)

Generic sites don’t provide your friends with a place to get to know you better, and they certainly don’t provide them with any value.

Sending them to your blog would be a great start. They can get to know you better, see the value you have to offer and sign up for your mailing list while they are there!

This will most certainly allow you to develop a much stronger relationship with them, and from there, who knows? Maybe they will end up on your team down the road, or maybe they will purchase one of your products or an affiliate product.

Well, there you go. Four easy ways to generate free network marketing leads. These are certainly not the only four, but I think this will get you headed in the right direction!
