I think this myth is so far fetched. Drivers bring home the cash and have opportunities to make more depending on their run, time, and luck

I have been a trucker coverted to a dispatcher. Many people didn't know me when I was brought on and thought they hired this kid off the street. As a long hauler, I didn't know my coworkers... soon as it was announced I was a driver coming in off the road, my respect level jumped through the roof. I find it difficult to truly emphasize with a driver and asking them to drive the hours they do without having done it before. Just my thought.

I agree.... I have always been office administration until I went to be a trucker. I will say though, I would take mentally drained verses absolute fatique to the point I don't know my own name due to all the driving I did. Family doesn't exist in a trucker's life and so much is missed.

im a dispatcher now and i like it alot. although im considered to be a person from the "street", becuz i havent worked for the company in the past. nor as a trucker. nor as a dispatcher. in other words dispatching is where i have started from. but i was wondering, is having a trucking background a necessity? cuz i think not.although i think my co-workers do..

Truckers make killer bucks? At what cost? They miss the children being born and/or growing up. I've been there. Now I dispatch & pay is steady BUT I am mentally drained at end of week. I spend Saturday's sleeping (it off or catching up). Mental fatigue is 6 times worse than physical fatigue. It is like spinning a raw egg & stopping it for only a second. The outside stops but the inside keeps going. Any dispatchers awaken & feel like there is a slight earthquake? That's your nerves bud, beware.
